The interclub battle with SMCC on 11 October

The first of this season's external competitions took place on Monday 11 Oct against the formidable South Manchester club. The format was a one-to-one battle of 30 projected digital images from each club, with no more than 2 images per person. The NCPS entry had been selected by Phil Riley and Graham Johnston, who selected what they felt to be our strongest entry from the images submitted to them (rather than selecting for example at least one entry from each member). They also tried to achieve a good balance of subject matter. Our 30 images did in fact come from 17 members.

16 NCPS members were present in the "Away Stand" and a good battle ensued, with some excellent images on show. Judge Jeremy Malley-Smith LRPS, BPE 2* from Wigan PS had the unenviable task of assessing a wide range of quality images, and when the scores were finally totalled NCPS came out winners with 507 marks as against SMCC's 487.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening, and a particularly satisfying one for the NCPS contingent.

The order of projection was alphabetical order of title. (Hence the order of the entries in this report). The SMCC individual scores are not shown here. However, for comparison, their highest scores were 19, compared with 2 of our entry gaining the full 20 points.
